Ok, I’ve been asked this a million times…. “Are There Drugs That Help Tinnitus?” Based on my experience there are no drugs that help tinnitus. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any because everyone is different and what may work for one person may not work for another. But, consider this. Drugs caused my tinnitus! I had a virus and I took an over-the-counter medication to alleviate the symptoms. And voila! Next morning I woke up with a jet engine in my head and it’s been there for the last 6 years.
My advice! Avoid over-the-counter medication at all costs. In fact, the warning leaflet inside the box said (in very small print) “may cause ringing in the ears.” Duh! If I’d known I would have never taken it. But, if you read my other posts, I’m not at all bitter about this. Why? Because tinnitus was a blessing in disguise. As a result, I’m a better person, I eat better, I’m much more healthy and spiritually grounded.

I feel in some ways tinnitus has given me more stamina in general. I believe most people are weak in comparison-I’m sure you know what I mean. But there are weeks, days, and unnerving moments when I feel like I am going to lose it–completely. However brief, its scares me.
I hate tinitus i have had it for a while too.
I AM HARD OF HEARING AND TINNIUT PROBLEM BUT YOUR DRUG HELP ME.

I have found that Xanax and Ativan have helped my tinnitus, and helped me deal with it. I try to keep my daily intake of Xanax or Ativan to .75 mg. of one or the other per day. At this small of a dose there is less concern about addiction.
